When is the next Leap Year?

2024 is a leap year; however, the next Leap years are 2024, 2028, 2032 and 2036. 

A leap year is one that adds one extra day—February 29—to the calendar year almost every four years.

Unless the year is exactly divisible by four, in which case an extra day is added to February to make the year 366 days long, the calendar year is 365 days long.

These regulations are in place to ensure that the seasons always fall within the same months of the year and that the average length of the calendar year corresponds with the length of the Earth’s orbit around the Sun.
